Four Tips to Make a Marriage Last a Lifetime
- Divorce was never an option. When the going gets tough, these days, 50% of people opt-out of the marriage. It is remarkable what two people can do when the attitude is that it is a non-option to divorce.
- Remember, marriage is not a contest, never keep score. You’re on the same team to win. Great advice. Abandon the tit-for-tat mentally to build a stronger marriage. We all have different skills, and different energy levels at different times. We should learn to appreciate what we both bring to the table.
- Agree that it’s okay to disagree, and fight for what really matters. Learn to bend, not break. Compromise and if you can’t compromise, agree that you will just have to disagree…then move on. Pick your battles. Most things don’t matter in the grand scheme of things!
- The one thing you have in common that transcends everything else – we are both Christians and believe in God. Having faith in some higher power helps couples in that they can give over their greatest fears and gain support from a force outside of each other which takes the pressure of the individuals in the marriage.
…share your recipe for a lasting marriage!
